Rochester Hills information meeting on Reservoirs Scheduled

City Council President Greg Hooper announced to residents packing another city council meeting that an information meeting to provide residents with updated information concerning the city's plan to build two water reservoirs will be held on January 31, 7pm at city hall.
According to Mayor Bryan Barnett, the city has been collecting and formulating information to answer questions that residents have asked at numerous previous meetings.
Residents have been holding their own meetings and have become organized in an effort to stop the reservoirs.
The questions asked from residents have been varied, but a great deal have dealt with the business case the city provided back in June. Many residents have expressed that the business case is not sound and will not provide any cost savings to water bills after up to $20 million has been spent on reservoirs.
Other dissatisfaction has to do with the plan to place a reservoir on park land in a residential area. Allegations of operating in a manner of mistrust have arisen. Residents contend that land purchased with money from a  millage for park land should not be used for another purpose.
City Council President Greg Hooper said at a previous meeting that after the millage has been paid off the city can do whatever it wants with the land. That did not sit well with those in attendance.
Other questions have arisen concerning the awarding of a half million dollar contract to Tetra Tech for the engineering study. More information on this is coming in a posting in the near future. Stay tuned.
