At yet another packed city council meeting in Rochester Hills, Mayor Bryan Barnett said that residents could expect a joint letter from the city of Rochester and Rochester Hills requesting that the Road Commission of Oakland County discontinue any further work regarding the paving of Washington Road to be penned and sent this week.
He added that it was on the Rochester city agenda the same evening and based on conversations with Rochester officials including Mayor Jeffrey Cuthbertson, he expected Rochester to recommend the discontinuation of plans to pave Washington Road.
Many of those in attendance at the Rochester Hills meeting expressed support and relief of this notification. A large number of residents from the NE portion of the city that includes two historic districts have been attending RH city council and planning commission meetings expressing their displeasure with the RCOC plans.
Many others in attendance did not seem to know of the Washington Road paving situation as they were there to express displeasure with plans to build water reservoirs in the city.
